Welcome to Monday, Grand Rapids. I’m LeQwane and this is Calder News - giving you the deets on your city.
Hope you had a great weekend, based on the amount of news I was able to find, it seems Grand Rapids had a chill “Halloween weekend” (not that I was expecting anything else).
This newsletter should be a really quick read, so let’s jump right on in…

Over The Weekend
A quick summary of noteworthy news from a quiet weekend…
Development: Old baseball diamond gets polished
New renderings of the planned upgrades to Sullivan (Valley) Field were released. The ballpark has been serving Grand Rapids since the 30s, but thanks to plans from the Fans of Valley, the park's restoration could ensure it’ll be around for generations to come.
Election: Early bird gets the worm
Early voting in Michigan began on Saturday — More than 145,000 Michiganders participated on the first day. Early voting will be open until the Sunday before Election Day. Click here to learn where you can vote early around Grand Rapids.
