The GRAM Gets Its First Endowed Role

The Grand Rapids Art Museum received a $1.5M donation from local philanthropists to bring in the museum’s first endowed role. What does that mean? The donation will help support the salary for a new position at the museum. The specific role it’ll fund is a lead curator who’ll be expected to develop exhibits, collections, and more. | Read more here

Downtown Gets Another Sky Bridge

Another sky bridge could be coming downtown. Proposed by the City of Grand Rapids, the sky bridge would connect the downtown YMCA to the GVSU parking lot located on Seward. The proposal comes after the YMCA announced it was seeking new parking solutions for its members due to losing a portion of its parking lot to the new soccer stadium that’s being built downtown. | Learn more about the proposal

State

Improving Grand Rapids’ Roads

Grand Rapids’ roads could be getting some TLC. Earlier this week, Gov. Whitmer released a plan that commits $3B to repairing Michigan’s roads. Where will the money come from? The bulk of the funding will be sourced from the state’s gas tax, taxing marijuana wholesale, and large corporations operating in Michigan (especially firms that benefit from road infrastructure). | Read more about the Governer’s plan

Restaurant Of The Week

This one is for you if you’re ever looking for something to eat for lunch or dinner.

Because today’s restaurant of the week is One Stop Coney — and not, I don’t mean Grand Coney… This place has dogs that’ll “hit the spot”.

One Stop Coney is downtown just off the corner of Fulton and Jefferson. And they have some of the dogs in town.

They’ve got 576 4.8-star reviews and you better believe one of those reviews came from yours truly lol.

While I’d love to keep all my go-to spots quiet, I had to share this with you.

What are your go-to food spots around town? Send me a tip — so I can give them a try. 👀
