Plus, GR gas prices dip, last chance for pool passes, and more

If this email was shared with you click here.

Good morning, Grand Rapids. I’m LeQwane and this is Calder News — and thank you for the feedback on last week’s announcement of the Calder Crew Card.

I responded to lots of your feedback, but for anyone who wondered which restaurants will be included, don’t worry. As we get closer to the release, I’ll share who’s participating. 🫡

Now, for today’s newsletter, you’ll read about public pools, new housing coming to Wealthy, and gas prices (who doesn’t want to hear about those?)

I appreciate you taking the time to read today’s newsletter.

Hope your week is off to a great start.

It’s Time To Fill Up

Grand Rapids is seeing some much-needed relief at the pump. Gas prices dropped 15 cents this week, bringing the local average down to $3.13 per gallon—about 40 cents less than this time last year. The trend follows national declines, just in time for summer. Some gas stations in the area are already under $3, with even lower prices spotted around town. | Find the cheapest gas near you

New Affordable Homes Planned Near Wealthy and Fuller

In addition to its Union development, Dwelling Place is looking to build two new affordable homes near the corner of Wealthy and Fuller in the Baxter neighborhood. Backed by city grants and land donated by the late The Wege Foundation, the project aims to sell the homes for around $200K through a community land trust model, keeping them affordable long-term. If approved, construction could begin this August, with homes available by spring 2026. | Read more about this housing
