Community

Old GR Home Earns Historical Marker

One of the oldest homes in town has been officially recognized with a state historical marker. The Sweet House on East Fulton and Lafayette was built in the 1860s by Martin Sweet. And has been a local landmark as a residence, music school, and women’s club. Today, it’s an event venue preserving pieces of the city’s early art and industry history. | Read more

📨 U.S Postal Service to Close For A Day

Heads up, the USPS will be closed on Tuesday to observe Veterans’ Day.

🐯 A Snow Leopard Appears

After opening viewing of its new baby pygmy hippo to the public, John Ball Zoo has introduced Juniper, a snow leopard cub, for visitors.

🦐 Grab A Plate

Restaurant Week is back for its 16th year. The event features 70+ local restaurants with special menu items priced at $25, $35, or $45. Participants have the 7th - 15th to try a few items and vote on the winner.

🎄 Tanger Outlet Tree Lighting

At 6 PM today (Friday), Tanger Outlet will host its yearly tree lighting event. The event starts at 5:30 PM and will feature free hot cocoa, Santa and Mrs Claus photos, and more.

Opening:

Sensory Park → A new indoor playground with a focus on providing fun for kids with autism and their parents is opening on Eastern next spring.

Correction → In Wednesday’s email I mentioned Sovengard “won” Restaurant of the Year in a contest. While they definitely could win the award, they were nominated for the award. There wasn’t any content.
