GRPS Breaks Ground on New School

GRPS has started construction on its first new school in decades, located behind the old Aberdeen. The $38.7M project is funded by the district’s 2023 bond. The school is set to open in fall 2027, and GRPS is now collecting name suggestions from the community. | Submit a name suggestion here

New Firefighter Training Center

GR Gets Its Own Monopoly Game

Folks, we’ve got our own version of MONOPOLY. While the OG GR Monopoly was released back in 2004, the new one features local Wealthy Street, The Blue Bridge, Mr. Burger, Meijer, and The Rapid. The game was unveiled at John Ball Zoo earlier this week. Copies are available now at many retailers featured on the board. | List of retailers

Non-Profit Opens Teen After-Treatment Home

Wedgwood Christian Services has opened a 10-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot home in Kentwood designed to help teens transition from residential care to independent living. The program will teach life skills like budgeting, cooking, and job readiness, offering support to youth who might otherwise leave the system without guidance. | Read more

Hancock on Wealthy Street is hosting its third annual PumpkinFest this Saturday/

The free family event will feature

  • Pumpkin carving

  • Painting

  • Live music

  • Apple cider slushies (and of course food)

The event starts at 11 AM with The Moonrays performing under heated tents, and all activities are open to the public, even if you’re not dining in.

After East Grand Rapids approved a major redevelopment plan for Gaslight Village, residents launched a same-day petition urging officials to halt the project.

🏠 WM’s First Sustainable Home Up For Sale

A Grand Rapids home that was built back in 1978 is now up for sale. What makes this one special? It was the first eco-friendly home built in West Michigan. The home is listed for $540k.
