Happy Birthday, Grand Rapids! 🎉

In case you didn’t know, today is our wonderful city’s 175th anniversary (aka birthday)— she’s an oldie, but goldie.
Grand Rapids was incorporated as a city on April 2nd, 1950.
And to celebrate this milestone, local organizers are putting on events, exhibits, digital experiences, and contests throughout this summer.
In fact, Grand Rapids is having a birthday bash on Saturday June 7th at Rosa Parks Circle. So mark your calendars!

Measles Touches Down In Town
Kent County has had its first confirmed case of the measles since 2013. The case is reportedly linked to a local who did a bit of international travel. While this is an interesting event, it’s nothing to be too concerned over for the time being. The official simply recommends you watch for symptoms. | Click here to see if you might have been exposed to the person with measles

🏁 AJ’s Family Fun reopens as “Game Time Fun Park”
Game Time Fun Park at LMCU Ballpark is now set to open this Friday after storms delayed its original launch. The park, rebranded from AJ’s Family Fun Center, now features a new go-kart track, updated batting cages, and a mini-golf course. Making it a solid place for families to enjoy before or after Whitecaps games.
🇮🇹 New Resturant: Allora
A coastal Italian kitchen is set to open at 201 Monroe Ave NW on April 23. The kitchen is called Allora and it offers seasonal, sustainable Italian-inspired dishes in a refreshed setting.
🌲 Visit Blandford Nature Center For Free
Blandford Nature Center admissions are free during the whole month of April, thanks to LMCU’s sponsorship — just in time for our transition period from winter to spring.
