Plans For 100 New Affordable Homes

Habitat for Humanity of Kent County has launched an $8 million fundraising campaign (called Imagine) to build or rehab 100 affordable homes in Grand Rapids’ Roosevelt Park, Black Hills, and Baxter neighborhoods by 2027. The new housing will be for middle-income families and feature single-family and multifamily properties. The fundraiser has already secured over $6 million from local donors and foundations. | Click here to learn more

New Hotel Near The Airport?

A new 135-room, four-story hotel and day care is being proposed near Gerald R. Ford International Airport, on a 10-acre lot near Patterson Avenue and 36th Street, which sits about two miles from the airport. | Read more about the plan here

RiverTown’s Theater Gets $5M upgrade

After years of complaints, the Celebration Cinema at RiverTown Crossings is getting a $5 million renovation that features heated recliners, a new interior design, new food and drink capabilities (plus a full bar), and a new auditorium with 4K laser projection and Dolby Atmos sound. 💐 GRAM Hosts "Art in Bloom"

The GRAM is hosting floral displays that are inspired by artworks and collections at the art museum this Friday. There are exhibits by 13 local florists and there are also live activities like yoga, artist markets, and music.

🤝 GR Crime On A Downward Trend

Love to report — for the first time since Police Chief Eric Winstrom took over in 2022, Grand Rapids has gone a full month without a shooting, with car thefts also sharply declining this year.

🚓 Michigan’s New Car Seat Laws

Starting April 2nd kids under 2 must be in rear-facing car seats, children under 8 need booster seats until they are 4'9", and kids under 13 must ride in the back seat. Have a child that you travel with often? Make sure you’re up to date on the new car sear laws!
