Good morning, Grand Rapids. Iâm Jenny and this is Calder News.
Schoolâs out for some kids already and others are finishing up this week. Maybe that means no more school buses slowing down your commute. Maybe that means quieter mornings, since you donât have the get the kids ready. For me, that means trying to find new things to do around the city with my kiddo.
Some ideas to try: GRPLâs Summer Reading Challenge and Studio Parkâs outdoor movie screenings. Weâll keep the suggestions coming all summer long!
Read about those and more in todayâs newsletter.

Do you have ideas about how to bring communities together?
The City of Grand Rapids wants to hear them. The Neighborhood Match Fund awards money to residents who propose community projects that benefit everyone.
This yearâs theme, âStories We Share: The Courage to Connect,â encourages plans that promote a deeper sense of belonging among neighbors. Some suggestions are block parties, community gardens, cleanups, and neighborhood events.
Projects can receive gifts between $500 and $5,000 to make these neighborhood dreams realities. Make sure to submit your idea by June 30th.
