Seasonal Parking Starts Soon
It’s that time of year, odd-even and same-side parking rules start on Saturday and will run through March. Local street signs should explain which side of the street parking is allowed, depending on the date. If you break the rule, you can receive a $20 ticket, even if there’s no snow on the ground. | Catch up on the rules

GR Funds 5 Programs to Improve Safety
The City of Grand Rapids awarded $10k to 5 local groups yesterday (Tuesday) during its annual Safe Alliance for Everyone pitch night. Fifteen organizations pitched their ideas to prevent violence amongst young people (12–24). | Read about which ideas won
Development
Former Car Wash Turning Into Offices
The vacant carwash at 5002 Plainfield Ave. NE is being transformed into office and retail space. The $250K project is led by a local insurance agent looking to build a new office and space for one or two tenants. Construction is expected to finish by mid-2026. | Read more

Here are the “official” trick-or-treat times for some areas in Kent County:
Wyoming - 5 to 8 p.m.
Walker - Around 6 p.m.
City of Grand Rapids - 6 to 8 p.m.
Grandville - 6 to 8 p.m.
Kentwood - 6 to 8 p.m.
Alpine Township - 6 to 8 p.m.
East Grand Rapids - 6 to 9 p.m.

🌶️ Downtown Chili Competition
On Saturday, Gimmie's Bar and Grill is hosting the first-ever Downtown Chili Throwdown, where multiple restaurants welcome the community to taste chili samples and vote on a victor. There will also be live music, other food, beer, and a heated tent.
🦛 Pygmy Hippo calf Makes Debut
John Ball Zoo’s baby hippo, Hugo, is now able to be seen by the public. The calf is now about 2 months old and will be in its habitat with its mother through the week and weekend.

🧑🎨 E’LLA’s Art Gallery → An art gallery at Tanger Outlet is now open for walk-in and private parties to create masterpieces
☕ Every Be Cafe → Gaslight Village now has a new cafe that is donor-funded and provides employment to individuals with intellectual disabilities
🤸♂️ Urban Air → A new indoor adventure park (for adults and kids) with trampolines, gyro chairs, skybrides, foam pits, etc, is opening in November
