A $4.6 million resurfacing project on Plainfield Avenue between I-96 and Airway Street starts on Tuesday. The goal is to upgrade the ramps, sidewalks, and medians. Sports

Calvin College Builds A Football Field

I know we’ve got some NCAA fans — Calvin University has officially started construction on its first-ever football and lacrosse field. Phase One will bring a new turf field with lighting, a scoreboard, and space for both football and men’s and women’s lacrosse practices. Home games will still be played in the soccer stadium for now, but future plans include a full stadium with seating for 3,500 fans and game-day amenities. | Read more

Dégagé Expands Housing for the Homeless

After seeing major success in its first year, DĂ©gagĂ© Ministries is working to expand its Complex Care Housing program on Jefferson Avenue—an initiative that provides safe, supportive housing for people who are homeless and facing mental illness. The project cut emergency room visits by 65% and EMS calls by 87% for the first 25 residents. Now DĂ©gagé’s goal is to bring that impact to the community by serving 120+ individuals across its properties. 🌈 Pride Festival Returns

The Grand Rapids annual Pride Festival is making a comeback. Celebrating GR’s 2-SLGBTQ+ residents contributions and value to the city, this two day event will kick off June 1st. It’ll feature food, live music from superstar artists, 200+ vendors, beer tents, and more.

🎬 Movies And Concerts In The Park

Downtown Grand Rapids isn’t the only place you’ll be able to catch a movie or in a park. East Grand Rapids announced its “Concerts and Movies In The Park” series earlier this week and it features some heavy hitters. The best part? It’s completely free.

đŸ–Œïž New Murals Downtown

This summer, the Front Ave. underpass near GVSU is getting 21 new pieces of wall art that highlight endangered Michigan species. Local and national artists will do the work during the “mural festival” from July 21st to July 26th. Learn how to get involved.

Fans of Valley Field are putting together a local music video—and you’re invited.

Whether you sing, play an instrument, or just want to dance, you can join the video shoot on June 14 set to Bruce Springsteen’s “Glory Days.”

The theme? Restoring the historic ballpark to its former glory.

If you have a musical or vocal talent and want to participate, sign up by June 1 at 11:59 PM to get the track, sheet music, and your spot
or you can just show up if you think it’ll be fun to participate.
