Veo Supports Voting

Veo announced $10 in free ride credits this Tuesday, Nov. 3, to help people get to the polls.

According to their estimates, the free credits should cover two rides. To and from your home to the nearest voting location.

As the official support for micromobility across GR, Veo said they’re doing this to “reduce barriers” to voting by solving transportation issues.

Talk Of The Town

🎤 Did You Hear? Amp Amplified

Last Tuesday, the GR City Commission approved a noise exemption for the Acrisure Amphitheatre despite resident complaints.

City officials said the venue had a special land-use approval, separate from the citywide ordinance, with the original exemption defined in 2023 during initial planning.

Still, a Kent County judge ruled the ordinance had to be obeyed; lawyers are requesting they reconsider. Do you think they'll allow the exemption to go through?

📚 New Superintendent Takes the Stand

After searching since February, the district selected Dr. Allison Tingwall as the next superintendent of GRPS.

With an 8-1 vote, Dr. Tingwall is filling the shoes of Dr. Leadriane Roby, who announced her retirement in February. With 20 years of experience as an educator, she's sure to lead GRPS well.

Cool Things at Canal Park

Canal Park is back with $10M worth of major upgrades.

The park now has a playground, extra-wide sidewalks, a kayak launch space, and even a heated pavilion for cool-weather gathering.

Working directly with the Anishinaabek tribe on the new design, the new-and-improved park has more green space and dedicated parking available for those looking to enjoy some time along the river.
